With way more free time available, I chose to visit the cinema to watch three movies on one day. On the list were Sherlock Holmes, Alice in wonderland and Men who stare at goats.
For Holmes it was my third time - Why I watched it for a third time, now being on par with Matrix years ago, I can't tell exactly - As a contrast, I saw Avatar only twice. Major contributing factors are:
The music, which grabbed me the first time already during the first seconds - Meanwhile I also own the sound track CD. Note that they didn't put the Irish song on it;
The humor, based on playing with words but also the practical jokes and
the friendship between Holmes and Watson, which has some classical elements of the standard duo of the dumb and the intelligent.
I got curious about Alice in wonderland because of Tim Burton directing it; His movies have some flair on their own, so I thought it's always good to know them.
It was a good experience and it was also interesting since while I remembered the characters (after they were shown), I had forgotten most of the story. It's been quite some years since I saw it the last time.
There was some difference in the 3D visualization in contrast to Avatar. With Alice, some focus transitions didn't feel natural, but I can't put my finger on that.Still, definitely worth seeing.
As for the men who stare at goats it's because of a comedy and George Clooney. These two combined always work for me as I like his childish appearance. Starting the movie with the words "There's more truth in it that you might guess" makes you really wonder what is what at the end of the movie.
Some scenes should be taken serious, but in the context of the whole they got the people laughing. Transporting the awful truth with humor.
